BYU Bookstore delivers Christmas Bears to local charities

Thanks to the generosity of BYU Bookstore customers, the Bookstore delivered more than 300 Christmas Bears to local charities on Dec. 16 and 17.

For the seventh year, the BYU Bookstore is offering a free collectible plush bear to all of its customers who purchase $100 worth of merchandise in one transaction. The bears have a retail value of $30 and can either be kept by the customer or given to the Bookstore for delivery to one of several local charities.

This year, bears were delivered to the Utah Valley Medical Center Pediatric Ward, the Children’s Justice Center, the BYU Police Department (for accident or other victims) and to the Children with Cancer Christmas Fund, an alumni-run charity.

“Each of these bears brightens the day of a child in difficult circumstances. It’s heart-warming to see the light in the children’s eyes as they see the bears and realize that they get to keep them,” said Alex Morales, 3-D designer at the BYU Bookstore and coordinator of delivering the bears.

“Our customers are wonderful, and it is their compassion that allows us to give away these bears. We are truly grateful for everyone who has made this program possible,” Morales said.
