BYU "Ballet Showcase" to feature variety of styles Nov. 18-19

Brigham Young University’s Department of Dance will present “Ballet Showcase,” featuring classical and contemporary dance selections, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18-19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dance Studio Theatre, 166 Richards Building.

Tickets are available through the Fine Arts Ticket Office at (801) 422-7664 or at performances.byu.edu for $5.

With a variety of dances choreographed to music ranging from Chopin to Incubus, dancers will perform selections ranging from the beautifully expressive to non-stop, fast-paced movement.

The showcase will feature two original works by Shani Robison, artistic director, as well as other popular pieces such as “Grand Tarantella” staged by Suzi Wood and “Wind Chimes” choreographed by Odyssey Dance Theatre artistic director Derryl Yeager.

“I constantly try to push myself as well as the dancers to reach new heights technically, artistically and emotionally through their performances,” said Robison, who works with a variety of students from different majors and dance levels.

For more information, contact Lynne Thompson at (801) 225-1775 or Shani Robison at (801) 422-4748.
