BYU announces tuition increase for 2011-2012

Brigham Young University will raise tuition rates for the 2011-2012 academic year by 3.2 percent for undergraduate and advanced-standing (graduate) students and 3.1 percent for law and graduate Marriott School of Management students.

The tuition increases were necessitated by the increased costs of supporting the university and its programs.

This will bring the undergraduate rate per semester from $2,210 to $2,280, an increase of $70. Next year's tuition for advanced-standing (graduate) students will be raised from $2,790 to $2,880 per semester. Law school and graduate School of Management students will pay $5,300, an increase of $160.

Undergraduate tuition for spring and summer terms will also be raised 3.2 percent, increasing the rate from $1,105 to $1,140. Spring/summer 2011 rates for advanced-standing students will be $1,440, an increase of $45.

As in the past, students who are not members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, BYU’s sponsoring organization, will pay twice the listed rates, and those rates will also reflect the 3.1 and 3.2 percent increases.

Non-LDS undergraduates will pay $4,560, an increase of $140; advanced-standing non-LDS students will pay $5,760, an increase of $180; and non-LDS law and business graduate students will pay $10,600, an increase of $320.
