BYU announces dates for annual Passover Seder Services in March, April

Tickets available beginning Feb. 19

The annual Passover Seder Services at Brigham Young University, conducted by Victor L. Ludlow, have been scheduled for March 28 and April 3, 11, 12, 17 and 25. All the events — except the April 11 service, which will be held in 3280-3290 Wilkinson Center — will be in 3228 WSC and will go from 6:30 to about 10 p.m.

Tickets will go on sale Tuesday, Feb. 19 and are $25 for the public and $17 for current BYU students, faculty and staff. They will be available in 271 Joseph Smith Building on the BYU campus.

In addition, Ludlow will offer a Passover Seder Service Workshop to provide ideas and suggestions for individuals interested in teaching or conducting Passover Seder Services on their own. A packet of materials will be provided. The workshop will be held on Saturday, March 8 at 10 a.m. in 3228 WSC. Tickets are $10, will include a luncheon and will also go on sale February 19 at 271 JSB.

Tickets for the Passover services and the workshop must be purchased at least four days in advance.

The services include unleavened bread, the bitter herbs and other traditions of Passover, along with a special catered meal and commentary by Ludlow, a specialist in Jewish studies.

For more than 30 years, Ludlow has conducted annual Passover celebrations at BYU.With its strong associations with the Old and New Testaments, this experience enriches one’s appreciation of the ancient and modern Jewish celebration, which commemorates the deliverance of Israel from Egypt.

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
