Brian K. Evans appointed administrative VP at BYU

President Cecil O. Samuelson has appointed Brian K. Evans as administrative vice president of Brigham Young University, effective May 1. Evans will retain his responsibility as the university's chief financial officer, a position he has held since 2003.

"Brian's extensive professional experience and time as BYU's CFO have prepared him well for this new appointment," said President Samuelson. "He has been and will continue to be a valuable member of the university's administrative team."

Brad W. Farnsworth, who has served as administrative vice president since August 1994, will preside over the Spain Madrid Mission beginning in July.

"Brad has contributed a great deal in many ways during his service as administrative vice president," said President Samuelson. "We will miss him and wish him well in this new assignment."

Many of Vice President Farnsworth's responsibilities will be assumed by Evans, and other duties will be distributed among other members of the President's Council.

With 19 years of professional experience as a consultant and certified public accountant in the San Francisco area, Evans was a partner with the accounting firm Arthur Andersen for nine years, where he headed the firm's strategy, finance and economic consulting practice in Northern California.

Evans received his undergraduate degree in accounting from BYU in 1980 and completed an MBA at Oregon State University a year later.
