Bishop H. David Burton, Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will speak at a Brigham Young University campus devotional Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 11:05 a.m. in the Marriott Center.

Bishop Burton was called to be the Presiding Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ in December 1995 and was sustained at the April 1996 General Conference of the Church. He previously served for three years as the first counselor in the Presiding Bishopric. Bishop Burton also served for 14 years as secretary to the Presiding Bishopric and as assistant Church budget officer.
Professionally, Bishop Burton worked for Kennecott Copper Corporation and the Utah State Tax Commission. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Utah and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
