Biblical archaelogy topic of BYU lectures Jan. 26-27

"Recent Discoveries and Controversies in Biblical Archaeology" will be the topic of a lecture by Randall W. Younker as part of the Global Focus Series Wednesday, Jan. 26 at noon in 238 Herald R. Clark Building at Brigham Young University.

Younker will also present "Digging in the Ruins of King Solomon: The 1990 Season at Tel Gezer" Thursday, Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. in 3714 Harold B. Lee Library.

A professor of Old Testament and biblical archaeology, Younker also serves as director of the Institute of Archaeology and the Horn Archaeology Museum at Andrews University, a Seventh-day Adventist school. Throughout the past 25 years, Younker has traveled extensively throughout the Middle East and has directed numerous archaeological excavations in Israel and Jordan.

Currently, Younker is directing excavations at Tell Jalul (near Mount Nebo), the largest Ammonite site in central Transjordan, as part of the Madaba Plains Project.

His lecture is sponsored by the Department of Ancient Scripture and the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies. It will be archived online. For more information on Kennedy Center events, see the calendar and News and Events online at http://kennedy.byu.edu.
