Author and physicist Brian Greene to present BYU forum assembly March 25

Brian Greene, author, physicist and string theorist, will speak on "The Fabric of the Cosmos: Space, Time, and the Texture of Reality" during a Brigham Young University forum Tuesday, March 25, at 11:05 a.m. in the Marriott Center.

The forum will be broadcast live on the BYU Broadcasting channels. There will be no rebroadcast of this event.

Greene is the author of several books, including The Elegant Universe, which recounts how the theories of relativity and quantum mechanics have changed our understanding of the universe, and which introduces string theory, a conjecture that may lead to a unified theory about the universe. His latest book and Tuesday's forum topic, The Fabric of the Cosmos: Space, Time, and the Texture of Reality, spent six months on The New York Times' bestsellers list.

He received a bachelor's degree in physics from Harvard University and completed his doctorate at Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar, in 1986. He joined the physics faculty at Cornell in 1990 until his move to Columbia University in 1996, where he is a professor of physics and mathematics.
