Arden Pope to discuss air quality research at Lee Library Sept. 23

A Brigham Young University economics professor will discuss his landmark research on the correlation between air quality and health Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 2 p.m. in the Harold B. Lee Library auditorium.

Arden Pope will discuss "The Science of Air Quality and Health: BYU and the Utah Valley Experience." Pope has gained national and international recognition for his research.

"The work that Pope and others have done at BYU about air quality in Utah valley has put BYU on the leading edge of air quality research," said Brian Champion, political science librarian and coordinator of library lectures. "People from all over the world consult with faculty at BYU because of the quality of the research and the extensity of the research that's been done here."

Pope's address is the first of five scheduled lectures as part of the fall semester "House of Learning" lecture series, which provides a forum where faculty from a variety of disciplines can meet and present ideas.

The lecture is free and open to the public. A short question-and-answer session will follow the lecture. For more information about the library lecture series, contact Champion at (801) 422-5862.
