Annual Faculty Women's Association Retreat will be April 26

The annual Brigham Young University Faculty Women's Association Retreat will be Thursday, April 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., finishing in time for the security check for this year's commencement exercises.

This year's keynote speaker will be Wendy Watson Nelson, former BYU faculty member and wife of Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Session topics will include faculty women and preparing for leadership with Mary Anne Prater and Sara Lee Gibb; childcare options for faculty with Laurie Urquiaga; eldercare considerations with Rick Miller, director of BYU's gerontology program, and faculty members Shirley Cox and Sue Cockayne; two options for preparing portfolios for the professional track; and planning for retirement with Shane Stewart from DMBA.

Also featured will be stress management by Glenda Christiaens; secrets of life with Sherrie Johnson; and line and contra dances made easy by Susanne Davis.

At noon, lunch, awards and the introduction of new officers will close the retreat.

The location will be the University Parkway Centerlocated on the corner of University Avenue and University Parkway. Registration is $10 prepaidor $12 at the door.

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
