Annual Business Plan Competition hosts Final Event April 2

Since 1993, BYU's Center for Entrepreneurship has hosted the annual campus wide Business Plan Competition to educate students in entrepreneurship and help students develop successful business entities. Undergraduate and graduate students from all colleges and departments participate in the event.

On Friday, April 2, the BYU Business Plan Competition will host its Final Event from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Joseph Smith Building auditorium, where the top three student teams who submitted plans in the competition will participate in the final round of judging and, for the first time, will share their ideas with the public. The winning team will be awarded more than $120,000 in cash and in-kind donations.

"I am convinced this year's Final Event will be spectacular," said Michael Hennessy, director of the competition. "The 55 plans submitted this year are the most innovative and impressive ideas we have ever seen."

Now in its 11th year, the Business Plan Competition boasts a proven track record for discovering talent. The Center for Entrepreneurship and the competition have helped BYU create one of the best programs in the nation for entrepreneurs—consistently making Success magazine's Top 25 list.

The winner of last year's competition went on to win Fortune Small Business magazine's first nationwide business plan competition, beating out more than 50 entrants from 49 other top-tier schools.
