American Piano Duo performs Rachmaninoff Oct. 22 at BYU

The American Piano Duo will perform music for two pianos by Sergei Rachmaninoff Friday, Oct. 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Admission is free and open to the public.

The duo consists of BYU faculty member Jeffrey Shumway and Boise State University faculty member Del Parkinson.

They will play three pieces by Rachmaninoff, "Fantasy," the Suite No. 2 and "Symphonic Dances."

The two have been performing together for more than 20 years.

Shumway received a bachelor's degree in music from BYU and a master's degree in music from the Juilliard School of Music. He is currently the head of keyboard studies in BYU's School of Music.
