Alumni Association hosts Grad Fair, BYU Day events for Commencement

The Brigham Young University Alumni Association will host a cap and gown pickup event Thursday and Friday, Aug. 7-8, as well as a graduate celebration on Thursday, Aug. 14.

Graduates can pick up caps and gowns during the Grad Fair Aug. 7-8 on the third floor of the BYU Bookstore from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The fair will also give prospective graduates the opportunity to check out other offers and win prizes, said Charlene Winters, director of Alumni Communications.

Students who cannot attend the Grad Fair can pick up their cap and gowns Aug. 11-15 at the Bookstore.

A new simplified cap and gown process is possible because keeper gowns have been introduced for all bachelor’s degree candidates. Master, doctoral and faculty gowns will still be rented.

Faculty will be able to pick up their caps and gowns at the Gordon B. Hinckley Alumni Center Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 13-14. To order a cap and gown online, visit byubookstore.com.

Following Commencement Exercises on Thursday, Aug. 14, graduates can celebrate with their fellow graduates, friends and family at the BYU Day event at the Hinckley Alumni Center from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The event will include live music, dancing and a light dinner.

"It provides an ideal place for family and friends to honor the graduate and reminisce about the college experience," said Winters.

Tickets for the event are $16 for graduates and children between 5 and 12. Alumni, family and friends tickets are $21. Admission for children four and younger is free. To order tickets, visit byuday.aa.byu.edu.
