Abstracts sought for March 24 Family History Workshop presentations

Submission deadline extended to Monday, Feb. 21

The Brigham Young University Computer Science Department has issued a call for abstract submissions in preparation for its Fifth Annual Family History Technology Workshop scheduled for Thursday, March 24.

Abstracts are due Monday, Feb. 21. This is an extension of the previous deadlines set for Jan. 15 and Feb. 7. For information about submission, please visit www.fht.byu.edu.

The workshop will take place in the Conference Center northeast of the Marriott Center, one day before BYU's Computerized Genealogy Conference. To find out information about the Computerized Genealogy Conference, please visit ce.byu.edu/cw/cwcompu/.

The workshop features a keynote address, a panel and a dinner speaker. Presentations will also be made by computer scientists in the industry, in academia and in the Family History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Presenters will give live demonstrations of computer software or related technologies to participants during the noon hour of the workshop.

Those who wish to present must indicate this in their abstract and include a description of they will demonstrate.

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
