9th Annual BYU Student Women’s Conference set for March 3

All female Brigham Young University students are welcome to attend the ninth annual BYU Student Women’s Conference, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3, in the Wilkinson Student Center Ballroom and various classrooms.

The event will be free and no registration is required to attend the breakout sessions, but attendees must register for the luncheon in the Garden Court. Registration information will be available beginning Feb. 20 at a booth in the WSC and at the WSC Information Desk. Sunday dress is appropriate for the event.

The conference will open with a keynote address by Julie de Azevedo, popular LDS musician, and will continue with five sessions that cover timely topics specifically tailored to women. This year’s theme comes from Doctrine and Covenants 6:36: “Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.”

Speakers will include Randy Bott, BYU associate professor of Church history and doctrine, who will discuss “Making Time for the Master: Seeking Balance in Your Spiritual Life;” LaNae Valentine of Women’s Services and Resources, who will cover “Being Enough: Empowering Your Inner Self;” Elain Witt, adjunct professor of theatre and media arts, who will address “The Power Within: Learn to Speak with Confidence and Change the World;” Karen Pool, author and life coach, who will talk about “Doubt Not in Your Decisions: Facing the Future with Confidence;” and Todd Parker, professor of ancient scripture, and his wife, Debbie, who will discuss “A Workout for the Family: Strengthening Relationships in the Home.”

The BYU Student Women’s Conference is designed to help women learn to be effective leaders in the various roles they fill. The event is sponsored by Leadership Education, Women’s Services and Resources and the Department of Student Leadership.
