Faith, innovation and impact: BYU 2023 video highlights

From an unprecedented collaboration with a YouTube sensation to humanitarian projects that impacted families, BYU students and faculty shared their light across the globe this past year. Take a look at some of the BYU video highlights of 2023 compiled in this YouTube playlist.

Microscopic engineering feat with Mark Rober
BYU engineering alumnus and popular YouTuber Mark Rober returned to campus to collaborate with BYU faculty and students to create the world's smallest Nerf blaster. His YouTube video now has more than 34 million views. In this behind-the-scenes BYU Video production, BYU engineers share how hard work and the power of prayer helped them tackle Rober's nearly impossible task of creating a microscopic blaster.

Humanitarian strides across the globe
Students and faculty worked on important humanitarian projects in Ecuador where student engineers developed and delivered sustainable prosthetic solutions to patients in Ecuador. Their experiences are featured in this short documentary and BYU's national television commercial.

Students also participated in inspiring learning experiences conducting coral reef research in Molokai, Hawaii, and on an archaeological dig in Mexico.

Inauguration of President C. Shane Reese
C. Shane Reese was inaugurated as the 14th president of Brigham Young University on Sept. 19, 2023. Relive the momentous day with this video recap.

The inauguration featured a beautiful performance of "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing" by the BYU combined choirs. The musical number stirred the hearts of those in attendance, and the video recording was wildly popular on social media, with one international news outlet sharing the video under the title, "Are Human Voices or Angels Singing?"

These highlights provide a sampling of the incredible spiritual and academic work of 2023.
