BYU Law has earned its highest U.S. News ranking to date, rocketing up six spots from last year and coming in at No. 23 in the 2023 Best Graduate School rankings released today.

The J. Reuben Clark Law School is joined by the Marriott School of Business in earning Top-50 program ranks, with the Marriott School having two programs reach those lofty marks: The MBA program came in at No. 36 and the MPA program ranked No. 49.

Six additional BYU graduate programs ranked among the Top 100 in their disciplines:

  • Speech Language Pathology, No. 63
  • Nursing, No. 68
  • Education, No. 84
  • Mathematics, No. 91
  • Computer Science, No. 99
  • Chemistry, No. 100

After making a 14-spot jump last year, the BYU College of Nursing made the largest jump of BYU graduate programs yet again, leaping another 13 spots. BYU Law’s six-spot jump was preceded by an eight-spot increase last year. High placement rates for graduates and low graduate debt, among other things, are major factors in upward movement in the rankings.

BYU also had two additional graduate programs land just outside the Top 100 in their categories: Clinical Psychology (101) and Engineering (102). In specialty rankings, BYU Law and BYU Marriott both registered multiple Top-50 marks (Click here to see the full list of rankings for BYU graduate programs):

The U.S. News ranks professional school programs in business, education, engineering, law, medicine and nursing each spring. The rankings are based on expert opinions about program excellence and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school’s faculty, research and students. U.S. News also releases undergraduate rankings each fall, which include categories where BYU traditionally holds Top-10 marks, such as best value schools and schools with least debt.

In addition to 190 undergraduate programs, BYU offers 98 master's programs and 30 doctorate programs. Take a look at http://gradstudies.byu.edu/ to see all the specific graduate programs offered.
