Name: Carl Hanson
BYU employee since: 2005
My job at BYU is… faculty member in the Department of Public Health where I teach about planning effective public health programs.
My favorite BYU tradition is… faculty/staff noontime basketball because it is a great wellness activity — despite my numerous broken bones over the years.
My favorite part about teaching is… seeing students succeed in so many ways.
I get most excited about my work when… I hear of the great accomplishments of current and former students.
On Saturday mornings you’ll find me… on a long run with other crazed runners and returning to a pancake breakfast while cranking 80s or old-school country music.
My most embarrassing moment was when… I sat on the false lid of the book drop box in the Harold B. Lee Library and sank to the bottom with only my feet showing.
Three things that are always found in my refrigerator are… Tabasco sauce, cheese and low-carb tortilla shells.
My favorite Cougar athlete is… Cosmo.
My favorite quote is… “No misfortune is so bad that whining about it won't make it worse." - Jeffrey R. Holland
