Name: Amy Jensen
BYU employee since… 2000
My job at BYU is… professor in the Theatre and Media Arts Department and associate dean of faculty development and research in the College of Fine Arts and Communications.
I’m currently working on… understanding how the pandemic has shifted the role that digital technologies might play in arts education spaces.

I’m currently reading …. (or rereading) "World of Wonders: In Praise of Fireflies, Whale Sharks, and Other Astonishments" by Aimee Nezhukumatathil, "Caste" by Isabel Wilkerson and "Red Comet: The Short Life and Blazing Art of Sylvia Plath" by Heather Clark.
When I have 30 minutes of free time, you can find me… hiking in Rock Canyon, Slate Canyon or on the Shoreline Trail with my Boston terrier, Dot. Honestly, I do this for longer than 30 minutes and nearly every day. This helps my mental well-being.
My favorite spot on campus is… the HFAC — it houses nearly every part of my heart. I first kissed my husband on the northeast patio when I was 18 (don’t worry, he wasn’t my husband at the time). My daughters rode their scooters down the halls when I was a young professor. I get to teach and learn in that space every day with people that I love and admire.
I chose to come to BYU because... I get to teach and learn about theatre and media arts education within the context of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
On Saturday mornings you’ll find me… hiking the Y.

Three things that are always found in my refrigerator are… dark chocolate, Diet Coke and kale (listed in order of importance).
You’ll never find me without… a great pair of shoes. High heels, ballet flats, brogues, Oxfords, loafers, Allbirds, Chacos and Saltwater Sandals — the list goes on and on.
