Carri Jenkins

Carri P. Jenkins was appointed assistant to the president for University Communications June 1, 2000. In this role, she acts as the university’s primary spokesperson and directs the work of BYU University Communications,

University Communications manages media relations and university-wide communication efforts across many BYU channels such as BYU's home website, news website, and social media platforms. The nationally-recognized BYU Photo and BYU Video teams are also housed within University Communications.

Prior to her current role, Jenkins served as the associate editor of Y Magazine for 12 years, where she continues to serve as the magazine’s associate publisher. She also worked as the director of media communications at BYU, an instructor with the BYU School of Communications, a university speech writer and a publicity director.

Jenkins received her bachelor’s and master's degrees from BYU in communications and has a long history with CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education), culminating in her service as chair of District VII. In March 2020, she was named the Nancy Treser-Osgood Tribute Award recipient. She has been a member of CASE’s International Commission on Communication and the CASE District VII Board of Directors and Executive Committee.

In 2019 Jenkins was honored by the Public Relations Society of America with Utah’s Professional of the Year Award. She is also a past president of the Consortium for Utah Women in Higher Education.
