Women's Services and Resources lecture series promotes safety

Women's Services and Resources at Brigham Young University is sponsoring a lecture series for the month of October titled "What's Lurking In Utah Valley: Dealing with Safety and Abuse Issues."

The lectures are offered each Thursday beginning Oct. 9 with Marleen Williams from the Counseling and Career Center, who will speak on the topic "Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones, But Words Will Break My Heart" at 11 a.m. in 3090 Jesse Knight Humanities Building.

Other lectures include:

- Oct. 16, "What's Lurking in Utah Valley: Safety Tips, Police Reports and What Men Can Do to Help Reduce Violence," with police officers Arnie Lemmon at 6 p.m. and Ryan Judd at 7 p.m., 3228 Wilkinson Student Center.

- Oct. 23, "For Guys Only: How to Be a Gentleman," by Steve Smith from the Counseling and Career Center, at 11 a.m., 3223 Wilkinson Student Center.

- Oct. 30, "For Girls Only: Dating Smarts," with Rachel Hickman from Women's Services and Resources, at 11 a.m., 3223 Wilkinson Student Center.

The Women's Services and Resources Center seeks to empower women and men to appreciate their identity, destiny and responsibility through advisement, information, crisis intervention, support, counseling, referral and networking with other services on campus.

BYU’s world-class pipe organ is the ‘crown jewel’ of the new Concert Hall

If you haven’t experienced the pipe organ in the BYU Music Building yet, you’re in for a treat. With 4,613 pipes and 81 ranks (sets of pipes), it’s the third largest organ in Utah and the only one with two consoles. Organists can play from a console located in the center of the pipework facade or from a movable stage console.
