Women's Conference closes off parking facilities

Brigham Young University will host the annual BYU Women's Conference with approximately 16,000 guests visiting the campus Thursday, April 28 through Friday, April 29. As a result of the conference, several parking lots on campus will be closed.

One of the largest activities of the conference will be the Western Barbecue Dinner in the Richards Building parking lot Thursday. In the Smith Fieldhouse, volunteers will put together 45,000 hygiene kits, 13,500 school kits and 6,500 newborn kits to replenish supplies for future humanitarian relief efforts of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

As a result of these activities, the northeast corner of the parking lot west of the Richards Building (Lot 39) will be closed from midnight on Tuesday through Friday. The remainder of that parking lot will remain accessible on Wednesday to southbound traffic from 1230 North and to traffic from Lot 38 (between the Smith Fieldhouse and the Student Athlete Building).

From midnight Tuesday to midnight Thursday, one-third of Lot 37 directly north of the Indoor Practice Facility will be closed to accommodate the unloading of semi-trucks and equipment for the service projects being completed for LDS Humanitarian Services.

From midnight Wednesday to midnight Thursday, all of Lots 38 and 39 will be closed to public access. This temporary closure will turn the area into a pedestrian plaza for the safety of the participants.

The conference will start at 9 a.m. and end at approximately 5 p.m. on both days. The main parking areas for conference participants are north and east of the Marriott Center (Lots 19 and 20), north of the Bean Museum (Lot 22), southeast of LaVell Edwards Stadium (Lot 49) and west of the stadium (Lot 45).
