Vocal Point entertains with a cappella styles Nov. 20 at BYU

The Brigham Young University School of Music's most popular a cappella group, Vocal Point, will perform Saturday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Tickets are $9 and $3 off with student ID. For tickets, call the Fine Arts Ticket Office at (801) 378-4322 or visit http://performances.byu.edu.

Vocal Point is a nine-member male voice ensemble that performs with harmony, humor and amazing vocal percussion to create a high-energy concert. Their music ranges in variety from pop to country, to jazz, to rock and other musical styles.

This year Vocal Point is under a new director, James Stevens, who wasa member of the a cappella group from 2002-2003.

The group was founded in 1991 as a private venture by Bob Ahlander and Dave Boyce. Vocal Point then joined BYU's School of Music as its newest performing group in 1994.

They have competed in many national and international competitions including the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella where they took first place in the semifinals in March 2004.
