Vocal Point brings a cappella harmonies to BYU concert March 18

Brigham Young University's popular a cappella jazz group Vocal Point will perform Friday, March 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Tickets are $9 with $3 off with a BYU or student ID. For tickets, call the Fine Arts Ticket Office at (801) 378-4322 or visit performances.byu.edu.

The nine-voice male group combines vocal percussion and harmony to re-create some of the radio's biggest hits. Their music ranges in variety from pop to country to jazz to rock and other musical styles.

The group was founded in 1991 as a private venture by Bob Ahlander and Dave Boyce. Vocal Point then joined BYU's School of Music as its newest performing group in 1994.

They have competed in many national and international competitions including the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella where they took first place in the semifinals in March 2004.

They most recently took first place in a regional competition in Denver.

For more information contact James Stevens at (801) 422-2563.
