“Views of World War II: A Symposium” at BYU Oct. 13

The Harold B. Lee Library at Brigham Young University will host “Views of World War II: A Symposium,” featuring national and local speakers, Friday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the library’s auditorium on the first level.

Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

Frank Clawson, a retired colonel in the United States Air Force and director of military relations for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will present the keynote address, “World War II Veterans as a Modern Helaman’s Army.”

Other speakers will include Ken Alford, professor and department chair at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C.; Patricia Rushton, director of the “Nurses at War” project; and Don Norton, an oral historian.

The symposium complements the library’s current exhibition, “Remembering World War II: Pearl Harbor and Beyond.”
