Brigham Young University geology professor W. Kenneth Hamblin received the Willard and Viola Gardner Prize in the area of physical sciences, one of three distinguished prizes from the Utah Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters.
This prize is award in a rotating area of scholarship each year to scholars across the state of Utah who have made significant contributions in their fields. It is sponsored by the Willard and Viola Gardner family, whose son, John, was the chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at BYU for many years.
