University Orchestra, Strings in concert Nov. 30

The Brigham Young University School of Music will host the University Orchestra and University Strings in a joint concert in the de Jong Concert Hall, Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $3 and can be purchased online at byuarts.com. They can also be purchased through the Fine Arts Ticket Office, (801) 422-4322.

The University Orchestra will be performing work by Ernest Bloch, Felix Mendelssohn, Edvard Grieg and Archangelo Corelli. The orchestra is made up of students from across the university. They are primarily non-music majors who continue expressing their love of music during their time at BYU.

University Strings will then perform the overture from “West Side Story” by Leonard Bernstein and works by Georges Bizet, Franz Liszt and Johannes Brahms. The University Strings consists of approximately 60 musicians who perform music from all periods but emphasize Baroque pieces.

Both groups are conducted by graduate students Natachia Li and Dustin Grady.
