Tom Streeter joins BYU Jazz Ensemble for Nov. 4 concert

Brigham Young University’s Jazz Ensemble with guest artist Tom Streeter and “Mix” will be in concert on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Tickets are $6 and can be purchased at the Fine Arts Ticket Office by calling (801) 422-4322 or by visiting byuarts.com/tickets.

The Jazz Ensemble is conducted by Mark Ammons. The event will include “MIX,” an uncommon variety show.

Tom Streeter was the director of the jazz program and professor of music at Illinois Wesleyan for 40 years. The founder of the jazz program at IWU, he developed jazz studies courses and conducted the two jazz ensembles. His performance credentials on bass trombone also include extended tours with Henry Mancini and Andy Williams, plus performances with the Jimmy Dorsey Band and the Nelson Riddle Orchestra.

The Jazz Ensemble is BYU’s Synthesis-in-training band and performs locally and regionally. The group provides a tremendous training situation for up-and-coming jazz musicians.

For more information, contact Mark Ammons at (801) 422-4824.
