Student UTA stickers available April 18

On Friday, April 18, Brigham Young University students can begin to register for UTA bus stickers through Route Y. Starting May 1, students will need to have the sticker attached to their student-identification cards to participate in the Utah Transit Authority's Ed-Pass program.

After participating in a trial program, BYU signed a one-year contract with UTA that allows students to ride UTA buses and the TRAX system in Salt Lake City by showing their student-identification cards. There is no charge for the newly required stickers, and they are good from May 1 through April 30, 2004.

Students must register for stickers through Route Y by clicking on the UTA bus pass icon. Once registered, stickers can be obtained at the following locations: WSC ID Center (2300 WSC), WSC information desk (2310 WSC) and the BYU Bookstore.

During specific times, students can also pick up their stickers at the New Student Orientation One-Stop Shopping (3220 WSC) on April 28-30, June 23-30 and Sept. 2-15.

Interested BYU employees can also purchase the UTA stickers through an annual payroll deduction of $60. As with students, employees need to register in advance through Route Y. In addition to the student locations, employees can obtain stickers at the Employee Benefits Office in C-240 ASB.

Until April 30, all students and BYU employees can continue to ride the bus without a sticker on their BYU identification cards.

For information about UTA's routes and services, please visit www.utarideshare.com or call 1-888-RIDE-UTA (1-888-743-3882). UTA's "trip planner" feature on its Web site will also help individuals determine which route and times best meet their needs.
