Student of Neal A. Maxwell comes to BYU March 20 to honor him

James S. Jardine will present the seventh annual Neal A. Maxwell Lecture, “Elder Neal A. Maxwell: A Disciple’s Light,” Wednesday, March 20, at 7 p.m. in the Assembly Hall of the Gordon B. Hinckley Alumni and Visitors Center at Brigham Young University. This event is free and open to the public.

Jardine is an attorney specializing in business, antitrust, securities and intellectual property litigation. He has represented a wide variety of local, regional and national businesses in major litigation in Utah and other states. His many professional distinctions include Distinguished Lawyer of the Year (Utah Bar Commission, 2005), Outstanding Lawyer of the Year (Federal Bar Association, Utah Chapter, 2006), and Antitrust Lawyer of the Year (The Best Lawyers in America, 2010).

Jardine is a former student of Elder Neal A. Maxwell, having taken several classes from him at the University of Utah. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jardine has served as bishop, stake president, regional representative and mission president. He serves as chair of the Public Affairs Council, Utah Salt Lake City Area.

The lecture is sponsored by BYU’s Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship, which seeks to deepen understanding and nurture discipleship among members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by furthering religious scholarship and promoting mutual respect and goodwill among people of all faiths. It is named in honor of Elder Neal A. Maxwell, former member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church.
