Stephen R. Covey to discuss leadership as a choice Jan. 23 at BYU

National best-selling author Stephen R. Covey will address Brigham Young University students Monday, Jan. 23, at a lecture hosted by the Marriott School’s Business Strategy Club and the Marriott Undergraduate Student Association.

Covey, named in Time magazine as one of the 25 most influential Americans, will speak on leadership as a choice and not a position. This free event is open to all students and community members and will be held from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. in 140 Joseph Smith Building.

"Having Stephen R. Covey speak will be a great introduction this year for students who wish to polish their personal leadership skills," says Adam Benton, president of the Business Strategy Club. "Dr. Covey is an internationally respected leader and an engaging speaker."

Business leaders around the globe have sought Covey’s counsel on how to overcome reservations and to harness their individual leadership potential. The BYU community will have the opportunity to hear Covey share his insights on the secrets of successful leadership.

The BSC works with local business leaders and aims to give students opportunities to contribute insightful solutions to real business challenges. MUSA serves approximately 1,900 undergraduate students in the Marriott School to supplement the academic experience and prepare them for future jobs.
