Sixth annual Utah Education Law Institute at BYU June 11

The sixth annual Utah Education Law Institute will be held Friday, June 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Conference Center northeast of the Marriott Center on the Brigham Young University campus.

The conference, formerly held in October, is a one-day conference on legal topics of interest to Utah's education community. The conference is open to educators, administrators, school board members, legal practitioners, parents and students.

Presenters at the conference include Julie Underwood, general counsel of the National School Boards Association; Charles Russo, professor at the University of Dayton and past president of the Education Law Association; and Tom Anderson, past assistant general counsel to the U.S. Department of Education. The conference will also feature many local experts.

Preregistration is $35 for the conference and includes lunch. Registration on the day of the conference is $40 and does not include lunch.

The conference is free with preregistration for BYU faculty, staff and students with an additional $13 for lunch if desired.

Attorneys who wish to receive six hours of CLE credit can pay an additional $10, register and submit their bar number.

Continuing education credit is also available for teachers. Cost is $30 for one-half credit pass/fail Elementary Education 514r or Secondary Education 514 through BYU Continuing Education.

The conference is sponsored by the Department of Educational Leadership and Foundations at BYU, the BYU Journal of Education and Law, the education section of the Utah Bar Association, the Del Wasden Memorial Fund, the Utah Department of Education and the education division of the Utah Attorney General's Office.
