Six artists featured at BYU B. F. Larsen Gallery exhibit through Oct. 28

“Transformed by Light: Exploring Personal Enlightenment”

Six diverse artists with ties to Utah and Brigham Young University are coming together to create an exhibition, “Transformed by Light: Exploring Personal Enlightenment,” which will be on display in the B. F. Larsen Gallery of the Harris Fine Arts Center.

The exhibit will be available Thursday, Oct. 6, through Friday, Oct. 28, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, and admission is free. A panel discussion will open the exhibition Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. followed by an opening reception at 6 p.m. for the BYU community and the general public. Complementary catalogs will be available at the reception.

The artists — David Linn, Andrew Ballstaedt, Casey Jex Smith, Mani Felici, Tyson Monson and Colin Nesbit — contribute a wide range of artistic viewpoints, styles and media. The exhibition aims to show the artists various creative processes and how process affects the artists themselves. Their works will also be accompanied by “Belonging,” a juried student show.

The exhibition was organized by BYU Visual Arts Department’s Faith in Works Committee, which investigates the intersection of faith and art. This is the third exhibition the committee has hosted.

The exhibition is the result of a lot of student effort and is co-curated by an art history undergraduate Spencer Twelmeyer. The catalog accompanying the exhibition was created by students, from the design by graphic arts major Kent Miller down to the articles about each artist written by art history students.

BYU research: Mega wildfires can actually be a good thing

November 04, 2025
BYU professor Sam St. Clair is the principal investigator on the first study to show positive impacts of megafires (fires greater than 100,000 acres) across different forest types. Megafires can help some forest communities thrive — especially in areas where chronic browsing by elk, deer, and livestock has hindered tree regeneration, a widespread issue that often leads to forest regeneration failure.
