School of Music presents special family matinee, "The Orchestra Spins a Tale"

Featuring the BYU Philharmonic Orchestra

The Brigham Young University School of Music presents the BYU Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Kory Katseanes, for a special family music performance, “The Orchestra Spins a Tale” on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for children are on sale now at the Harris Fine Arts Center Ticket Office, 801 422-4322 or online at BYUarts.com.

The concert will feature works by Beethoven, Saint-Saëns, Smetana, Grieg and Strauss.The BYU Philharmonic will perform Beethoven's "Egmont Overture," excerpts from Saint-Saëns' "Carnival of the Animals," Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King" and Strauss's "Scene from Heldenleben."

Dancers from Kinnect, a BYU Department of Dance company, will join the orchestra for the performance of Smetana’s “Dance of the Comedians.”

Kinnect is a student outreach performance dance company with a specific focus on developing teaching, creative, and performing skills in its members.
