Scholar and author to discuss Icelandic Saints Sept. 28

Fred E. Woods, professor of Church history at Brigham Young University, will discuss his book on Icelandic members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at noon in 238 Herald R. Clark Building at BYU.

Woods, who has expertise in Latter-day Saint migration, wrote “Fire on Ice: Icelandic Latter-day Saints at Home and Abroad” in conjunction with his appointment as the Richard L. Evans Chair of Religious Understanding at BYU.

Woods has taught in the Church Education System for the past two decades, including five years at Ricks College and the past seven years at BYU.

He has written several books and articles and compiled the “Mormon Immigration Index,” which is used by family history centers throughout the world. Woods is also the executive director of the Mormon Historic Sites Foundation
