Ruth Christensen to present faculty vocal recital Sept. 29

Brigham Young University School of Music vocal faculty member Ruth Christensen will be performing Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

The event is free, and those 8 years of age and older are invited to attend.

Christensen’s recital, “Dreams of Childhood,” will feature the music and poetry of childhood as imagined by composers such as Johannes Brahms, Benjamin Britten and Erik Satie. Two works by Charis Bean Duke will also be premiered.

She will be accompanied by Jayne Galloway, piano, and assisted by faculty artists Diane Thueson Reich, soprano, and April Clayton, flute.

Christensen has belonged to a number of ensembles including the Michigan Opera, Phoenix Bach Choir and Utah Baroque Ensemble and has been a soloist with the Phoenix Symphony and Israel Chamber Orchestra. She also serves as an adjunct vocal teacher at Utah Valley University.
