Rosemary Thackeray to give BYU devotional address Feb. 2

Rosemary Thackeray, an associate professor of public health at Brigham Young University’s College of Life Sciences, will be the speaker at the weekly devotional Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 11:05 a.m. in the Marriott Center.

The BYU Broadcasting channels will air the devotional live. Rebroadcast and archive information will be available at byub.org/devotionals or speeches.byu.edu.

Thackeray serves as the co-chair of the social marketing special interest group for the Society for Public Health Education. She received her bachelor’s degree at Utah State University and then went on to receive a master’s degree in public health and a doctorate in health promotion and education from the University of Utah.

She is the recipient of the “Young Scholar Award” from BYU in 2008 and received the “Excellence in Research Award” in 2006 for her research in social marketing.

Before coming to BYU, Thackeray worked for the Utah Department of Health, Bureau of Health Education for nine years. She has also done consulting work with the March of Dimes, Utah Pregnancy Risk Lane, Utah Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Program, Utah Department of Health and the American Lung Association.
