Ronald Brough to deliver BYU devotional address Dec. 11

Ronald Brough, a faculty member in the Brigham Young University School of Music, will give the final devotional address of 2007 on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 11:05 a.m. in the Marriott Center.

The devotional will be presented live on BYU Television, KBYU TV, KBYU FM and byubroadcasting.org. For rebroadcast information, visit byubroadcasting.org.

Brough is artistic director for the BYU Percussion Ensemble and Panoramic Steel as well as division coordinator for jazz studies. In addition to recitals and performances at BYU, he has performed as principal percussionist in the Utah Chamber Orchestra and as percussionist with many groups in both Utah and Texas, including the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Performance tours with these companies have taken Brough throughout the United States, Canada, Japan, Europe, Russia, Australia and New Zealand. He has also performed, adjudicated and presented clinics at several of the Percussive Arts Society International conventions.

Since 1994, the Brough family has moonlighted as the steel band Pan Jam. They performed for the Utah Arts Festival, as part of the Utah Performing Arts Tour for the Arts Council, with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and at many other venues.Brough taught percussion at Indiana State University before coming to BYU in 1984. He received his bachelor’s and master’s in music from the University of North Texas in Denton, and completed his doctorate at the University of Northern Colorado.
