Road west of BYU's Marriott Center to be closed July 6-31

To extend water lines to Helaman Halls complex

Brigham Young University will close the road on the west side of the Marriott Center between the Center and the Helaman Halls complex in order to extend underground water lines.

The road, 450 East, will close Tuesday, July 6, so construction crews can extend two six-inch, high-temperature water lines from the Marriott Center to Jean Fossum May Hall.

The road will remain closed until July 31.

Alternate routes into campus include 900 East and 150 East (Canyon Road).

John Cowan, BYU construction project coordinator, said officials made every effort to accomplish the construction during the slowest time of the year.

"We realize it will be an inconvenience and we will do our best to accommodate the public," he said.

Access to the Marriott Center is available from the north on University Parkway. The Marriott Center ramp will also be available if needed.

The road immediately east of the Marriott Center is also closed due to other construction projects.

The road closure will affect UTA bus route 832. The route will be detoured onto 150 East (Canyon Road) between Campus Drive and University Parkway. For questions regarding the changed bus route, call UTA Customer Service at (801) 227-8923.

Clark Mechanical will perform the work under the supervision of Interwest Construction, the primary contractor on the May Hall renovation project.

For more information, call John Cowan at (801) 422-5442.
