Rhapsody in Taps featured at de Jong Concert Hall stage Nov. 9

Rhapsody in Taps, a tap dance and jazz music touring company, will bring its talents to Brigham Young University's de Jong Concert Hall Thursday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m.

Admission is $16 or $12 with a BYU or student ID. Tickets can be purchased at the Fine Arts Ticket Office, by calling (801) 422-7664 or by visiting performances.byu.edu.

Linda Sohl-Ellison is the artistic director and choreographer for the group, which will perform rhythmic tap dance featuring live jazz music and percussion and an original repertoire. The program will include "Dark Eyes," "Los Coyotes Diagonal" and "Espiritu," as well as a tribute to dancer/choreographer Gregory Hines.

Founded in 1981, Rhapsody in Taps is comprised of seven tap dancers and six jazz musicians, accompanied by occasional guest artists.

The group pays homage to the rich heritage of tap dance and explores innovative choreography for the modern stage. The group has performed in California, New Mexico, Utah, Oregon and New York, as well as Canada and Bali.
