Pianist Scott Holden joins BYU's Orpheus Wind Quintet for Jan. 22 recital

Celebrates purchase of School of Music's new Fazioli grand piano

Brigham Young University’s Orpheus Wind Quintet from the School of Music will present a recital with faculty pianist Scott Holden Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend.

The faculty woodwind quintet and Holden will perform a recital of music for woodwinds and piano to celebrate the purchase of the School of Music's new Fazioli grand piano. The quintet features April Clayton on flute, Jaren Hinckley on clarinet, Geralyn Giovannetti on oboe, Christian Smith on bassoon and Laurence Lowe on French horn.

The performance will include Divertissement, op. 6 by Albert Roussel; Andantino cantabile, Allegro lento espressivo, Adagio and Allegro by Richard Faith; “Blue Mountain Meadow, Missoula, Montana” by David Maslanka; and the Sextuor, Allegro vivace, Divertissement and Finale by Francis Poulenc.
