Parking lot construction to be completed in early August

Construction in the parking lot west of the Abraham O. Smoot Administration Building is anticipated to be completed by Aug. 8. In the meantime, the lot is closed.

Physical Facilities is installing a 14-inch irrigation water line for various parts of campus. Crews previously drilled under North Campus Drive from the parking lot to connect the line with the irrigation canal. They are also installing larger planters, new sycamore trees, and new light poles.

In addition, they will install a storm sewer line for the Jesse Knight Building. Once the installations are complete, a contractor will repave the parking lot and paint new lines for stalls.

BYU prof whose research touches lives across Pacific, honored as Big 12 Conference Faculty of the Year

Biology professor Rick Gill is one of 16 faculty — one from each Big 12 school — to receive the Big 12 Conference Faculty of the Year honor, awarded for innovation and research on each faculty member’s respective campuses. The awards were started in 2024, and Gill is BYU’s second honoree (following Charles Graham), which goes to dedicated faculty who “represent and reflect all the best attributes that make a college campus a bastion for learning and growth."
