November 2005 Fine Arts and Entertainment Calendar

At the Museum of Art

The Museum of Art offers a Monday night program centered on the signature work in its collection, Carl Bloch’s “Christ Healing the Sick at Bethesda.” This 40-minute program, titled “The Healing Hand: A Family Presentation on Carl Bloch’s ‘Christ Healing the Sick at Bethesda,’” will be held the first Monday evening of each month at 7 and 8 p.m.

“Images of Don Quixote: Magic, Frames, and Imagined Possibilities” will continue on display through Dec. 10. The exhibition of book illustrations will celebrate the 400th anniversary of the first publication of the 17th century Spanish novel “Don Quixote” by Miguel de Cervantes. The works were created by artists from 1605 to 1884 and reflect the evolving interpretations of the novel throughout the centuries.

The exhibit “Adam’s Dream: The Photographs of Rodney Smith” will continue on display through Jan. 16, 2006 in the Conway A. Ashton and Carl E. Jackman Gallery on the museum’s second floor. The exhibit consists of 69 black-and-white gelatin silver prints drawn from all phases of Smith’s career, with an emphasis on his commercial work during the 1990s.

Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays; and noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays. For more information on exhibits and museum programs, call (801) 378-ARTS.
