Nancy Wentworth new director of Center for Teaching, Learning

Brigham Young University Academic Vice President Brent Webb announced the appointment of Nancy Wentworth as director of the Center for Teaching and Learning effective Aug. 1.

Wentworth has been serving as the chair of the Department of Teacher Education. She succeeds Russell Osguthrope, who will be retiring this fall.

“We are grateful to Professor Osguthrope, who was the inaugural director of the Center for Teaching and Learning when it was organized in the spring of 2007. He has shepherded the university through the development of and transition to Learning Suite, and has been visionary and passionate about the improvement of teaching at the university,” said Webb.

Wentworth served as associate dean in the David O. McKay School of Education prior to her appointment as department chair in 2010.  She has also chaired the Faculty Advisory Council.

She has published widely in her area of specialization which includes the integration of technology in educational programs. Wentworth received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, a master’s degree in education, and a doctorate in educational studies from the University of Utah.

“Her experiences as an administrator and educator will have a positive impact on the future of the center,” Webb said.
