"My Friend Flicka" featured at BYU film series March 27

A runaway best-selling novel that was made into a popular movie in 1943 will be shown at the Harold B. Lee Library Auditorium at Brigham Young University.

"My Friend Flicka" will begin Thursday (March 27) at 7 p.m. and is part of the Special Collections Motion Picture Archives Film Series co-sponsored by Friends of the Harold B. Lee Library and Dennis and Linda Gibson. Admission is free and doors open at 6:30 p.m.

"My Friend Flicka" is the endearing coming-of-age story of a boy, played by Roddy MacDowall, and his horse from the popular novel by Mary O'Hara. It was filmed in Utah's Duck Creek Village, Navajo Lake, Dixie National Forest and Zion National Park.

The Twentieth Century Fox film will be presented in a rare Technicolor print from the Utah Film Collection in Special Collections.

The Special Collections Motion Picture Archives Film Series presents motion picture prints of films that come directly from the collections of film directors, actors and producers. For preservation reasons, films are not shown regularly. For more information, contact Special Collections at (801) 422-6371 or (801) 422-3514.
