Museum of Peoples and Cultures hosts date night Feb. 28

The Museum of Peoples and Cultures at Brigham Young University invites couples to celebrate a belated Valentine’s Day at its Egyptian-themed date night, “Sphinxes and Sweethearts,” Friday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.

Tickets for “Sphinxes and Sweethearts” are $10 a couple and are available for purchase at the WSC information desk.

“Sphinxes and Sweethearts” offers fun prizes, learning experiences and great food. Couples will have the chance to win prizes through different activities including a mummy-wrapping race and painting hieroglyphics. Three different games, Pyramid, Egyptian Balderdash and Matching of the Gods, will also be available for couples to play. Mediterranean refreshments will be provided

“This date night offers a fun experience for couples,” said Samantha Gilbert, promotions manager at the MPC. “It’s a great way to get out of the house and learn something new during an exciting and eventful evening.”

The museum hosts educational events to serve the academic mission of BYU by training students to teach about and care for anthropological and archaeological collections in the custody of the university. Educating visitors through events allows the MPC to branch out in creative ways that benefit the BYU and local community.

For more information, visit facebook.com/byu.mpc or mpc.byu.edu. The museum is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is closed Saturday and Sunday.
