Middle East scholar to discuss end of Qadhafi regime at BYU Sept. 8

George Joffé will speak to Brigham Young University students on “Libya: The End of the Beginning — Regional Implications of the End of the Qadhafi Regime” Thursday, Sept. 8, at 2 p.m. in 238 Herald R. Clark Building.

Admission is free, and the public is welcome to attend.

Joffé teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Kings College, where he is attached to the Centre of International Studies at the University of Cambridge and also at London University.

His research interests include trans-national risk in the Mediterranean, legal systems and migrant communities and Euro-American relations. His numerous publications include the "Politics of Governing: A Comparative Introduction" (co-author, 2006), "Jordan in Transition" (2002), and "Perspectives on Development: The Euro-Mediterranean Partnership" (1999). He is also co-editor of the Journal of North African Studies.

Previously, he was deputy director and director of studies at the Royal Institute of International Affairs.
