Mezzo-soprano Ruth Christensen to give BYU faculty recital Jan. 20

Lyric mezzo-soprano Ruth Christensen will be featured in a Brigham Young University School of Music faculty recital Friday, Jan. 20, at 5:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

Christensen’s program will feature “Three Soldier Songs,” a set of three traditional English and American soldier songs arranged by Benjamin Britten, Jake Heggie and Robert Abramson.

Her recital will also include selections by Richard Rodgers, Vernon Duke and George Gershwin.

Accompanying Christensen will be Robin J. Hancock and Steve Lindeman on the piano.

Christensen received a bachelor's degree in music from BYU. She holds a master's degree in music from Arizona State University and a doctorate in music from the University of Michigan.
