Malian ambassador to describe "Mali in Crisis" Nov. 16 at BYU

His Excellency Al Maamoun Baba Lamine Keita, Malian ambassador to the United States, will discuss “Mali in Crisis" Friday, Nov. 16, at noon in 238 Herald R. Clark Building at Brigham Young University.

The lecture is part of the Ambassadorial Lecture series hosted by the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies. Admission is free.

Keita was appointed Malian ambassador to the U.S. in January 2012, having previously served as the secretary general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation since 2008.

During his diplomatic career, Keita has served as ambassador to Ethiopia with concurrent accreditation to Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Djibouti, as well as Mali’s permanent representative to the African Union, the U.N. Economic Commission for Africa and the U.N. Environmental Program (2001–2007).
