Living Legends' Janielle Christensen to present BYU devotional Aug. 2

Janielle Christensen, artistic director of Living Legends at Brigham Young University, will speak Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 11:05 a.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall for a campus devotional.

Live broadcasts are available on KBYU-TV (Channel 11), BYU-Television, KBYU-FM (89.1), BYU-Radio and at byubroadcasting.org, as well as on campus in the Joseph Smith Building auditorium and the Varsity Theater in the Wilkinson Student Center. The title of her devotional address is “And You Present Me Wings.”

Prior to Christensen’s commitment to Living Legends, BYU’s Native American, Latin American and South Pacific performing ensemble, she was the artistic director for BYU’s Young Ambassadors. She has taken both performing groups around the world, bringing family entertainment to millions of people through live and televised productions.

Christensen is a producer for the School of Music, a member of the music/dance/theatre faculty and artistic director for the annual BYU Homecoming Spectacular.

For the past 35 years, she has been involved in producing and directing summer theatre, performing groups, trade shows for national corporations, a family-oriented TV series and large multi-media outdoor pageants.

Recently she has served as associate director and media spokesperson for “Light of the World” and “Luz de las Naciones” at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City.

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
